EMPRESS RDBMS Talks to Both the QNX 4 RTOS and
QNX Neutrino RTOS at the Same Time

Beltsville, MD, June 11, 2003 - Empress Software, developers of EMPRESS, "The Embedded Real-Time Database", and QNX Software Systems, the industry leader in real-time, microkernel operating systems, announce the release of EMPRESS RDBMS for QNX cross-platform connectivity enabling developers to create applications that can talk to EMPRESS RDBMS on both the QNX® 4 RTOS and QNX Neutrino® RTOS at the same time.
EMPRESS Version 8.62 has client-server products for both data transfer and data access connectivity across the QNX 4 and QNX Neutrino operating systems. An application with an EMPRESS client running on a QNX 4 system can communicate with an EMPRESS database engine deployed on a QNX Neutrino platform, and an application with an EMPRESS client installed on QNX Neutrino operating system can connect to an EMPRESS database engine on QNX 4. For maximum connectivity, an application using an EMPRESS client can talk to several EMPRESS databases on both QNX 4 and QNX Neutrino all at the same time.
EMPRESS also provides the capability for data transfer between two EMPRESS databases residing on different versions of QNX operating systems. With EMPRESS, the data exchange process between the QNX 4 and QNX Neutrino can be continuous and bi-directional, thus allowing developers maximum flexibility in developing embedded EMPRESS database applications in a multi-version QNX operating system environment.
Thus EMPRESS RDBMS gives QNX developers a way of working with both QNX OSs as well as a natural migration path from QNX 4 to QNX Neutrino. Developers can seamlessly put new solutions on QNX Neutrino into QNX 4 production environments.
